10 Services for Auditing Partial Fills

Partial-fill review depends on distinguishing order identity from execution identity and on having a complete record range. Provider order explanations, exports and manual worksheets can support reconciliation in different ways.

Start with the task: Find how much of a requested order is filled, confirmed cancelled or still unaccounted for.

Five questions to compare

Criterion 1

Execution rows

Preserve one row per execution with a unique fill ID. One order may legitimately have several fills.

Criterion 2

Order versus fill identity

An order ID groups executions; a fill ID distinguishes them. Repeated fill records must not inflate the total.

Criterion 3

Requested quantity

Use the original requested base quantity with the same instrument units as each fill.

Criterion 4

Confirmed cancellation

Count cancelled quantity only when it is confirmed. A missing execution is not evidence of cancellation.

Criterion 5

History coverage

Check history range and pagination. The remaining amount in an incomplete file may differ from current venue status.

Put the comparison to work

Enter requested quantity and only the quantity confirmed cancelled. Supply one row per fill with a distinct fill ID, positive base quantity and positive quote-per-base price. Do not infer cancelled quantity from a missing export row or treat an order ID as a unique execution ID.

A hypothetical request for 10 base units has fills of 3 units at 100 USD and 2 at 101 USD. The file accounts for 5 filled units, a 50% filled share and a weighted average of 100.4 USD per base. With no confirmed cancellation, the open remainder is 5 units.

Open Partial-Fill Quantity Reconciliation

Open remainder is the amount not accounted for by these supplied fills and confirmed cancellation. It is not a live venue order status. The tool rejects a file where filled plus confirmed cancelled exceeds the request instead of showing a misleading negative remainder.
